Random Fact #5 - Muffin Top, OMG, Wassup, LOL, and More

"Seinfeld" has made a significant impact on pop culture.  It none more apparent than their coining of the term muffin top being added to the Oxford English Dictionary.  Of course the "Seinfeld" definition of muffin top is not the only definition.

Other words like OMG (oh my God), wassup, and LOL (laugh out loud) are among the many new words added to the Oxford English Dictionary.

They added such words like LOL and OMG because the English language is evolving.

You can see the full updated list here.  The Globe and Mail linked to the list in their article which you can see here.

Song of the Day #17 - Duran Duran, Gregorian - Two Version

Here is I will have here in this post two versions.  One is the original and one is an amazing cover in two very different genres.  I like these versions equally.  I first the original over the system at the one site I do security.  I immediately loved.  It has played it multiple times as the same songs are seemingly in rotation 24 hours a day.  I never knew what the song was called and who it was buy.  So I finally found it and I was so stoked!  This is a new favourite song of mine!

Writing and Recording

I've trying to come up with some new stuff to write about.  But once I get some new strings for my guitar, I will record of the stuff I have written.  I just have the itch to record, but it will have to wait.  The songs I have recently written are:

"Our Song"
"Sudan"

I have other bits of stuff I've written but have not been able to finish it.  I've started another song entitled "(Sometimes) I Feel All Alone.  It's a work in progress.  I just need to finish the lyrics and work on the tune.

Song of the Day #16 - Melissa Etheridge and Serena Ryder

Melting Snow

The snow has been melting the last couple of days.  It has made for a lot of puddles on the streets.  Big puddles that is.  Circle Dr., especially on the stretch with the businesses are on has a lot of big puddles.  There are other places where the water isn't draining as quick as it should.  Listening to the radio, we need a slow melt, not a quick melt.  It's just so that there isn't flooding.  But at least there is some warmer weather which means spring is on the way.

Lent

I never know what when Lent starts.  But luckily it was brought up on Facebook, so I know it starts tomorrow.  Doing something for Lent is what I've thought about.  I am going to give up junk food again.  I gave up junk food for Lent when I was attending Covenant Bible College in 2006-2007.  I know I can do it because I was successful when did it in 2007.  Sunday is the only day you can take a "day off" so to speak from whatever it is you are giving up.  Even when I partook in Lent, I hardly used Sunday as a reason to take a "day off."

Once midnight hits, I will be junk food free for 40 days.  This will be easy because I know I can do it.  The question is could you give up something for Lent?  Someone I know is going vegan for Lent.  More power to him.  I could never do that because I need my meat.

If you decide to do something, then good luck because it might be tough.  But when you complete it, you feel the satisfaction knowing you can do it.  I'll do daily updates.  So follow me on Twitter @mr_c_c_.  Or you can see my updates on the side to the right of blog.
