Two WWE stars in fellow Canadians Kevin Owens and Tyler Breeze have setup a GoFundMe fundraiser in hopes of raising at least $30,000. It doesn't matter if you like or hate their characters they portray in the WWE. They deserve major props for doing this. They have a couple of perks for donating. $100 or more gets you a video and follow on Twitter. Anything less gets you gets you a follow on Twitter. I encourage you to give something. Saskatchewan Needs a Women's Wrestling Scene
This history of professional wrestling in Saskatchewan is one that is up and down. We've had promotions, but they've always fallen by the wayside. One of the longest running in the country has been High Impact Wrestling. They been around for over 10 years. I'm proud to say that I support them.
Today on Facebook, High Impact Wrestling star, Brett Evans said, "Saskatchewan needs a female wrestling scene. C'mon ladies, step up." I've been saying this for sometime. High Impact Wrestling needs a women's division. But there needs to be a scene in Saskatchewan period.
Women's wrestling is a niche. But if it's done right ala Shimmer, Women's Superstars Uncensored, SHINE, joshi puroresu in Japan, and various other promotions; it can be really good. Saskatchewan just needs a foundation to start a great promotion and become an amazing place for women to want to work. Show that we have great female talent within Saskatchewan. We need to put our mark on the wrestling map with not just men's wrestling but women's wrestling too.
In the past, High Impact Wrestling has booked the odd women's match, but they need to help be the trail blazer for women's wrestling in this province. They could help be a forerunner for women's professional wrestling, not only in Saskatchewan, not only the prairies, but in Western Canada. We need something to get the women's wrestling scene in Saskatchewan going. Make it competitive that women would actually want to wrestle here. Make it worth having them come in. We need something.
An all women's promotion under the HIW Canada banner would be pretty sweet. You called it High Impact Women or something. It doesn't have to be under the HIW Canada banner, but just a women's promotion all together. We nee something done. We need to add some diversity to professional wrestling in this province. Like I said, we need something to put Saskatchewan on the map in professional wrestling so people will take a step back and take notice. Women's wrestling is one of those ways.
I hope the women's scene will start and thrive as the future wears on. It would be awesome if they helped lead Saskatchewan in a bright future for professional wrestling. These are a few things that one wrestling fan can hope for in this province. Now they just need to become reality.

Short Sleeve Sampson - Legend, Class Act, Uber Professional
On December 5th, High Impact Wrestling rolled through Saskatoon again as part of their Christmas Rampage Tour. They also brought back Short Sleeve Sampson. He was the first wrestler I met at a wrestling event ever. The memories of that night still remains. He was a class act on that day in 2012.
Fast forward over a year and a half later. Sampson announced his retirement from professional wrestling after a 15 year career. He also announced that he is going to embark on a farewell tour of about 40 dates. Upon finding this out, I instantly post on the HIW Facebook group saying that they should bring him back. Low and behold when they announced their Christmas Rampage Tour, they announced they were bringing him back for their three date tour. I was so stoked. But when December 5 arrived, I was truly excited for the event. Thank you to Dice Steele for saving a V.I.P. ticket for me. So I got a picture in the ring with Sampson.
Next night in Regina, I went down to King's Challenge IV. I wouldn't miss King's Challenge IV, but I also wouldn't miss Sampson's last Saskatchewan date ever. It great to see such a true professional in back-to-back nights. It's too bad that he won't be back in a wrestling capacity. I told time on Facebook the next day that it be awesome if he came back for a Q&A and an autograph session. He seemed down for the idea. Maybe King Kash would be up for the idea.
If you get the chance to meet Sampson, don't pass it up. You'll regret it if you pass up the opportunity. He is a class act. He is one of the nicest and most chill guys you'll meet in the wrestling business. It was great to see him again. The Sampsonites are going to miss him around these parts.

Meeting Tito Santana

When I found out last month that he was the special guest on this months tour I was so pumped! A part of my childhood is going to be in town and I will get to meet him! I was so pumped and it was one of these moments I would never forget.
As soon as I walked into the German Concordia Club where High Impact Wrestling holds it's shows, I was marking out. I was just in shock and awe that it was him that I had to immediately go and shake his hand! Mr. Santana knew right away what I got a picture he was selling and got him to sign it. I also got a picture with him. He was such a class act. He was so easy going and so easy to talk to. I told him that he was a big part of my childhood. I also said that my niece didn't understand the awesomeness of this. He understood because she is only 13.
He won his match via disqualification during to being attacked by HIW star Wavell Starr. Starr said in his match that he should have been the one to face Tito Santana. But King Kash was booked to face Santana. Kash and Starr were attacking him, than Cannonball made the save. Cannonball issued a challenge for a tag team match against King Kash and Wavell Starr, but the challenge wasn't accepted. I wish his match against King Kash would have went longer, but still awesome to see him live!
During intermission, he was taking pictures by the ring. He had the AWF Championship with him. That was very cool. I told him I randomly found the AWF "Warriors of Wrestling" show on DVD, but it might not have been all the episodes.
Overall, this is an experience I'll never forget. Meeting someone as legendary as him is just mind blowing. Even though it's three days later, I still can't believe I got to meet him. As Tito would say, "Arriba!"

WWE Extreme Rules Review
This is the first WWE offering in 2012 post WrestleMania XXVIII. This was their chance to redeem themselves. So did they? I was feeling hopeful that they would redeem themselves before viewing this latest offering. With how terrible WrestleMania XXVIII was, they needed to redeem themselves.
The WWE thought they would be clever and have a big feud and big match kick off the event. Randy Orton and Kane have been embroiled in a feud with has taken the all too overused "personal" angle by involving family or "kayfabe" family. Although this use of family wasn't well played out. Paul Bearer has been over used as "bait" when it comes to Kane. They did this when Kane was feuding with Edge. You might not have realized that if you don't pay attention to storylines. The match itself was a Falls Count Anywhere match meaning falls didn't have to take place in the ring even though it did. I'm a stickler when it comes to Falls Count Anywhere matches as I'd like to see the pin or submission happen not in the ring but somewhere in the arena. Zach Ryder attacking was oddly placed regardless of their past history. It was just ill timed. But that didn't detract from this being the third best match of the event.
Brodus Clay vs. Dolph Ziggler seemed like it wasn't even announced for the card. The match was what it was. Just something used for filler purposes. With Ziggler being as talented as he is, he shouldn't be used for filler purposes. Jack Swagger on the other hand should be. But that wasn't the case on this evening. It's unfortunate that Ziggler had to job to the likes of Clay. I just find Brodus Clay terrible and he will go nowhere. They should have left him as a heel instead of this annoying face being stuck wherever the WWE needs him. This wasn't the right place for him. Ziggler is much better than this.
Tables matches have found their place in annals of gimmick matches. Tables matches have been around for years and years, but the Dudley Boys/Team 3D were known for it. But not so much Big Show and Cody Rhodes. This is return match from WrestleMania and a Rhodes's rematch. Going into this match, I thought Big Show had this in the bag. He dominated Rhodes from the outset of the bell and returning the WWE Intercontinental Championship seemed elementary. Than the match ended abruptly. The finish was good and bad. How is that possible you ask? It was good because of how clever the Big Show was put through a table. Big Show climbs over the top rope to get in the ring. So Rhodes kicked the foot of Big Show causing him to lose balance and put one foot in the table below crushing it. It was bad because it cut the match short. More could have been done with the match, but it was what was with Cody Rhodes becoming the two time WWE Intercontinental Championship.
The infamous 18 second lose to Sheamus at WrestleMania XXVIII has been a focal point of the feud between Sheamus and Daniel Bryan. Bryan issued a great challenge for 2 out of 3 Falls match. This match type isn't used as much as it used to be. But this match didn't disappoint. Great grappling and chain wrestling early on. Sheamus showed that he is not just a brawler. Bryan has always been known for his technical ability and he showcased it through out the match. With him picking apart a part of Sheamus's body. Playing the part of a heel very well by getting himself disqualified in the first fall. But he was quick to make Sheamus pass out to the Yes Lock getting the second fall. Sheamus being the touch Irishman wouldn't go down without a fight which is something we have seen throughout his time in the WWE. He was able to pull out third fall and retain the World Heavyweight Championship. I don't get why people hate on Sheamus. He has proven to me he can wrestle not just brawl. Up to this point, this match was the best, but by the end of the night it was the second best match. Very good match!
Whose big idea was it to give jobber time on a pay-per-view and mic time on the pay-per-view? I get that it was used as filler, but they could have had a vastly better filler match. They didn't have to have two scrawny bastards lose to Ryback on pay-per-view. It served no purpose! There is nothing else to say about this shit break of a match. So moving on...
Another feud the encompasses a personal element. Chris Jericho played the heel perfectly during the feud. Some of his best work in sometime as a heel. CM Punk played his real-life wrestling adapted personality great like he always does. Jericho tried at every turn to show CM Punk as falling into the same life as his family their substance abuse problems. Sure there were points in this feud where I thought it was stupid, but overall, a great feud. Being as the event was held in Chicago, it made sense to have a them battle for the WWE Championship in a Chicago Street Fight. Great back and forth action with them just kicking each others ass. Great use of CM Punk's sister as a plant to slap Jericho. Yes there was a botch by CM Punk, but it happens. So move on. The move of the match which got the crowd going was CM Punk landing an elbow drop on Jericho while prone on the Spanish announce table. Poor Spanish announce table. Always getting crushed! Although CM Punk almost botched this. This hands down was the best match of the night with CM Punk retaining the WWE Championship!
Why do we get a Diva's Championship match as the semi-main event? For whatever reason, there was one thing I was thinking. With Beth Phoenix not being medically cleared to wrestle, they had the perfect setup to have Bella Twins face each other because of the whole "mystery" opponent. But having Layla return was a nice surprise too. Even though she won the WWE Diva's Championship this quick, at least we don't have to have one of the terrible Bella Twins hold the title.
The final match was an Extreme Rules match between the returning Brock Lesnar and John Cena. The build up was very well done. They had Brock Lesnar look so unbeatable and so tough. This is something we've never seen from Brock Lesnar before in the WWE. It was great to see him look this way. It was great to see Cena the way he was being that he was scared. Blood was shed by both men especially Cena. Lesnar was dominate throughout the whole match. What was Lesnar thinking with that leap off part of the ring steps thus crashing into Cena? That was crazy! It looked like he tweaked his knee, but just played it off which was great. Having Cena win seemed to take away from the build up Lesnar was getting during this feud. I would have liked to have seen Lesnar get the win and see how Cena would react on Raw. That will never happen. The ending bit Cena said made me wonder if he was losing his smile or just needs time off. I'm not a Cena fan by any means, but it is time for him to take time off and not just for an injury.
Even though Extreme Rules was passable, it wasn't a redemption by any means. Maybe Over the Limit will be the redemption the WWE is looking for.

A Sign of the Times
Netflix, iTunes, Redbox, Gamefly, the Internet, etc. has made video stores that rent movies and video games increasingly irrelevant and slowly making major chains obsolete. Blockbuster has shut down locations in Canada and Rogers is shutting down locations across Canada as well. A lot of movie rental companies are turning to mail or online rental services if they haven't done so. Plus with the services you can get on your cable or satellite to watch movies, why would you need to go to a video store to rent a movie? Or with mail or online services, why would you need to go to a video store to rent a video game?
The change in the way we do things has made the need for an actual location nil. I remember growing up, that renting movies or video games was a time I looked forward too. Picking out a new release or classic movie or game wanting to experience it for the first time or experience it again. Just something about doing that was a great part of my childhood. Nowadays, we have the convenience of these services at our fingertips that the whole wanting to go to rent something is not the same as it used to be.
The days of renting at an actual location is quickly becoming a thing of the past. For nostalgia reasons, it's sad. There are only a handful of businesses that rent movies as it's not the big business it used to be. I admit that I rarely rent movies unlike I used to. There is no need to with all these other services. I guess this is just a sign of the times.

WrestleMania 28 Review
WrestleMania is touted as the "showcase of the immortals," "where legends are born," "the Super Bowl of professional wrestling," etc.. Ever since WrestleMania was first started, wrestlers ever since have wanted their chance to perform on the "grandest stage of them all." But only a few ever get that chance each year to perform and showcase their abilities for the millions and millions around the world and the tens of thousands in attendance.
I watched WrestleMania at my neighbour's place. Thanks Earl! He orders the pay-per-views each month. It would be an experience to be at a WrestleMania live. To experience it once would be awesome.
This particular WrestleMania had potential to be a great one. Although it didn't start out that way. With the Irish "albino" Sheamus taking on the amazingly gifted and talented World Heavyweight Champion Daniel Bryan. It's no wonder they put this match first because they made Bryan do the job in 18 secs which is a WrestleMania record. Both Sheamus and Bryan have ability and talent, yet they'd rather have some mockery of a match cloud what could have been a great start to WrestleMania. But that would be the right thing to do on the part of the WWE and actually give the fans their monies worth.
Kane vs. Randy Orton would have been much better, but the lack of time they were given left more to be desired. Just like Big Show vs. Cody Rhodes. It left more to be desired. Although Rhodes getting crotched with a spear that was effectively botched in a round about way was totally hilarious. They gave Big Show the win because they wanted to give him his WrestleMania moment. Yeah, we get it, have a feel good ending to that match. The divas tag team match which saw Kelly Kelly and Maria Menounos taking on the WWE Divas Champion Beth Phoenix and Eve didn't have a feel good ending. The only thing good about it was the fact that the match ended. Beth Phoenix being the only one worth watching in the match still didn't make the rest of match worth anything. How sad.
The Hell in a Cell match was touted as the "End of an Era." Undertaker vs. Triple H with Shawn Michaels as the guest ref. Michaels was conflicted to call the match down the middle remaining impartial or help his long time friend Triple H. The match was back and forth with Triple H beating down the Undertaker in the early going of the match. With multiple chair shots, a sledgehammer shot, and even some Sweet Chin Music courtesy of "Heartbreak Kid," it still wasn't enough to put away the legendary "Deadman" or "Phenom." Undertaker battled back like his always does to give Triple H his own beat down. Shawn Michaels throughout the match showed emotion wanting to stop the match, but neither Triple H nor Undertaker wanted to stop the match. Michaels reluctantly counted the three which gave the Undertaker the win and kept his WrestleMania streak at 20-0. Shawn and Undertaker helping Triple H to the back is something that will never be seen again. It was just an amazing sight. That much respect between them to do that is awe inspiring.
Team Johnny vs. Team Teddy was a 12 man tag team match. If John Laurinaitis or Teddy Long's team won, they would be the general manager of both Raw and SmackDown. Nothing I could say would make this match sound interesting or good. Not even mentioning midgets being thrown around and tall freaks landing heaps chops would do this match justice. Team Cancer Voice (inside joke with my friend Mark) won thus becoming the general manager of the Raw and SmackDown. The whole thing with Eve was lame. She is a terrible heel and added to this shit that was this match.
The semi main event seen the straightedged superstar CM Punk defending the WWE Championship against the Winnipeg-raised Chris Jericho. A match I was looking forward to. This matched rooted in being personal thanks to Jericho taking shots at CM Punk's family and their addictions. This lead to John Laurinaitis making the stipulation that if CM Punk lost his temper and get disqualified that the WWE Championship would change hands. In a type championship match, that wouldn't happen. In the early going, it looked CM Punk may have gotten disqualified, but he used the ref's five count to his advantage. But as the battle raged on, the two combatants went back and forth. But CM Punk was able to pull out the victory and retain the WWE Championship in the second best match of the night.
Finally it was time for the main event. "The Once in a Lifetime" match. An overhyped piece of shit. The Rock vs. John Cena. The fans were up The Rock's ass way to much and it was bad. They booed John Cena because he was facing The Rock. Anybody else and they'd most likely cheer him... Than again maybe not. This was a match I didn't care about and as the match progressed, it proved why. Both didn't put their full effort into this match. They probably thought they'd get by on the hype alone. The match didn't live up to the hype. It was a long and drawn out. Too long for the lack of quality it was. The Rock showed he still can't do the Sharpshooter right and he's been doing that move for years. This match was so lackluster and terrible that nothing they'd do would help it be remotely good. The ending of the match was so bad that they had the Rock get up, hit the Rock Bottom, and win. Most people loved the fact that The Rock won, but they thought John Cena was going to win. Regardless of who won, it was a terrible match. The Rock winning means nothing because he is going to be gone back to Hollywood to make another movie which will flop and bomb big time.
Overall, WrestleMania was terrible. Nothing you could say will convince me otherwise. This WrestleMania had potential, but it was a huge let down. Thanks WWE, you need to build upon that potential and actually make it good. Can you do that? I'm not asking for much.

The JAPW Women's Championship & Women's Division
Two years ago to the day we saw Sara Del Ray defeat ODB to become the first JAPW Women's Champion. With JAPW seemingly expanding the women's division, it looked like it could be something good for the promotion. I had no doubt that she would hold the title for sometime and have many successful defenses. But as time wore on, Del Ray went one year into her reign. Not a big deal. She continued to turn away opponents with a few more successful defenses. But now with her last defense being well over six months ago on December 11, 2010, we see her as the two year champion. With three other women in the division, is it worth it to keep the belt around if we know more than likely that Del Ray will retain? It doesn't even seem like the women in JAPW who are mainstays are being put in situations to make it look like they really want a shot at the title and want to take the belt off Del Ray. That is through no fault of their own. Maybe you can say it's the booking which is the issue. Or you can say that since JAPW is running less shows that, you'll see the JAPW Women's Championship on a very limited basis.
Is that something you want? I sure don't. Sure I live in another part of the world and can't come to any shows, but I follow JAPW via the Internet and know what's happening because I follow this promotion on Twitter, go on their forum, and whatnot. It's travesty that something that looked good from the onset with their JAPW Women's Division shows, that it comes has come to this. There is still great potential to have a good women's division, but more talent needs to be brought in and the title should be defended more than it has.
I look to the indys for great women's wrestling because the WWE isn't delivering and TNA has had flashes of brilliance the last couple years. I would like to see JAPW return to a full-time schedule because this way it would give the women's division the opportunity to expand and become the division I know it can be. But if JAPW is only going to have the amount of shows it's now having, than the women's division will either have die a death before it really got the chance to shine or it will have such growing pains that it will be difficult to watch.

"Macho Man" Randy Savage Passes Away
It's a sad day in the world of professional wrestling. Former WWF Champion and WCW World Heavyweight Champion Randy Poffo aka "Macho Man" Randy Savage has passed away. He suffered a heart attack and lost control of his vehicle. His wife Lynn was in the car, but she suffered minor injuries. Earlier this month Randy and Lynn celebrated their first anniversary.
Savage is someone I grew up watching. His feud with Hulk Hogan, matches with Andre the Giant, feud with Jake "The Snake" Roberts, his time in WCW, his famous WrestleMania III match against Ricky "The Dragon" Steamboat, and whatnot. He had the total package. He was great in the ring and great on the mic.
Hopefully whatever the heat between Savage and Vince McMahon, if there was any, will cease. All the rumors about Savage and Stephanie McMahon were never proven and will never be proven. People need to stop spreading rumors about something they know nothing about.
The magnitude of this story is mind boggling. The fellow professional wrestlers, mixed martial artists, etc. are talking about it. It's all over the news outlets. It's crazy how big this story is. It shows magnitude of Savage and how respected he is.
He will be missed and as NWA Dakota Pro Wrestling put it: "

The "Rated R Superstar" Edge Retires
This past Monday on Raw, Edge made the announcement that he is retiring. It was doctors orders that he retire due to his physical well being. You can see his speech from Raw with the following video:

I have had time to process and think about his retirement. I must say that after looking back on his career in the WWF/WWE, he worked his ass off to entertain the fans, to try to put on good matches, and everything else that comes with being in the WWF/WWE. He at times was one of the most loved or one of the most hated wrestlers. But in the end, he will go down as a legend.
Even if you don't necessarily like Edge, you have to admit that he gave it his all. He sacrificed his body for the love of the business and that is what I respect. He never necessarily did it because he thought he would be the WWE and or World Heavyweight Champion. Sure it's a goal and dream to become that one day, but not everybody get to hold one of those titles in their career. To someone who went the extra mile to entertain his fans, becoming the WWE and World Heavyweight Championships respectively was a way of thanking him for his hard work. Some guys get their respective spots by pulling politics, but I can say that Edge has truly earned his spot. That is something I can also respect. But the days of earning your spot is dead. Well at least in the mainstream.
Edge has had some good feuds, good promos, good quotes (check my quotes blog), and just all great. He wanted to finish his career in the WWE so he didn't have to start over in another promotion. He got his wish and went out on top. Sure it was sooner than everyone expected, but it was expected he was going to retire in the next year or two anyways. At least he is not going to have to spend the rest of his life in a wheelchair. Plus his body will fill a lot better due to not having to wrestle everyday. Other wrestlers with banged up bodies like Mick Foley have said they felt a lot better by not having to wrestle all the time.
Edge's speech itself was filled with emotion. You could see that even though it was best for him, he didn't want to have to retire. He also felt a sense of relief that for the first time in a long time, he doesn't have to put on his ring attire and work. He just loved what he did and it showed during his speech.
Even though he is not working anymore, he is financially set for life. He was smart with his money and paid off his house. He won't have to worry about money as he will have royalties from merchandise with his name and likeness on it.
Edge will missed and I thank him for years in the business. He is one of my all-time favourite wrestlers and a future Hall of Famer definitely. Once again... THANK YOU EDGE!

Judging The Whole Of Something By The Mainstream
I see this a lot in certain things like music and professional wrestling. People will judge it as a whole based on the mainstream. When it comes to music they say: "Music nowadays sucks." That subjects music as a whole to being terrible. If they looked outside of the mainstream box when it comes to music, then they would know that there is good music out there. I don't subject music as a whole to this standard that the mainstream projects. Sure there are a lot of terrible artists and songs in mainstream music, but there are also a lot of good artists and songs in the mainstream.
If you took time to look outside the mainstream or look to find the good music in the mainstream, then you would find some great underground, indie, and or mainstream artists. But oh no, that would take too much time and effort to look for artists who are not mainstream or that still very good yet mainstream. As well, just because you are more mainstream doesn't you are just mainstream. Look at Arcade Fire for instance, they are still an indie rock band, but they are very popular have broken into the mainstream. Some people might think that being indie as well as mainstream is an oxymoron, but that is not the case. Again, Arcade Fire have proven that theory wrong.
Arcade Fire performing on the 2011 Grammy Awards have further proven that they can still be indie while performing on a mainstream awards show. Part of being indie is not just the style of music they play, but being indie is also about being signed to an independent record label.
When it comes to professional wrestling, people say: "Wrestling is shitty." That is also subjective because indy wrestling is great. The mainstream product of wrestling is not as good as it has been in the past. But don't stereotype all of wrestling as being shitty because the WWE and TNA project itself that way. There is a lot of good wrestling out there if you take the time to look for it. You have the Internet, so use it to your advantage.
I find that a lot of people are just too stubborn to look outside the box. That's why I continually say this when it comes to music and professional wrestling. If you are going to judge something, you need to choose the right words or actually have an idea of what you are talking about because it would make you look like you know what you are talking about. As I said, you have the Internet, so use to it your advantage would be a smart thing to do. Go figure... After all, you use it to bitch and complain about how bad mainstream music and mainstream professional wrestling are. Do it see the good rather than the negative.

Jake "The Snake" Roberts never won a title in the WWF. Even though he won titles elsewhere and was put in some good feuds in the WWF, he was never a title holder during his WWF stretch of his career or when he returned in the mid-90s for that matter.

Retards Jump Off Roof Into A Table
I know I've posted it and I still find it stupid they did this, but here is infamous clip of two dumbasses jumping off a roof performing a professional wrestling move known the Kryptonite Krunch, Celtic Cross, or Air Raid. Yes there was a big possibility for injury and they knew that, but they did it anyways. Apparently the guys in the video are trained professionals, but I have a hard believing that.
The best part of the video is people asking if they are okay and what's wrong. Of course they are okay and of course nothing is wrong... They are just rolling around in pain because they want to sell
it. Oh wait... it's just some yard tards being yard tards. Yard tard is slang term for backyard wrestler. I can respect someone who actually decides to get trained if they once were a backyard wrestler, but people who just do backyard wrestling with no desire to get trained, then I can't respect that especially the ones who do the ultraviolent, extreme, hardcore, and deathmatch styles of wrestling like it's cool to do so. It's best left up to the people who actually have training.
Have a laugh at theses two dumbasses expense.

This is a great documentary and I'm not just saying that because Bret Hart is my favourite wrestler of all-time. At that time in wrestling you never got to see much of the real life backstage goings on. It's something great to see. Nowadays seeing what's going on backstage is something we don't think about because of the social networks and whatnot. I highly recommend it regardless if you are a professional wrestling fan or not.

Bandwagon Hopping
Bandwagon hopping happens a lot in a many things. But I find that it happens a lot in the realm of professional wrestling. It's one thing to not be a fan someone, but it's the fact you are no longer a fan to outright bashing this particular wrestler or promoter or whoever when they were in fact once a fan. I get that I rag on Hulk Hogan because I am not on the Hulk Hogan bandwagon like I once was when I was a child. I mean, it's cool that you are still a Hogan fan, but that was only a phase for me.
Now I see and hear people ragging on John Cena, but it's not that it was a phase when they were a fan. They were only fans of Cena because he was a heel. As a fan we are supposed to cheer the faces (good guys) and boo the heels (bad guys). That has changed with the advent of the Internet and the whole "IWC" (Internet Wrestling Community). With the information that were getting at a rapid rate and able to see more of the backstage goings on, we able to cheer and boo for who we want regardless of alignment of heel, face, or tweener (in between). With Cena, when he turned face and become one of the top superstars in the WWE, it was a 180 degree turn and people who loved him because he was only a heel, they now can't stand him and loathe him. I don't necessarily loathe Hogan to the point where I wish death upon the guy like some people wish upon Cena. I just don't like certain things he does. Some people bash his wrestling, his over saturation of his merchandise, his movies, his rap music, and whatnot. It's not his fault that he was pushed to this degree. If you want to bitch at someone, then bitch at Vince McMahon and the WWE for pushing him to this degree. I find some irony here because people cheered Steve Austin for being pushed big time while making the WWF loads of money. But people don't like it because John Cena is doing the same. If Steve Austin was the big superstar and face of the WWE now, then people would be doing the same thing. They would be bitching about the same stuff they do with Cena. It's for the fact that it's no longer the Attitude Era and the Attitude Era spoiled fans as well as it's a PG rating.
It's not just Cena's bandwagon people have hopped on and off. If you've ever been on wrestling based forums, then you will know smarks (Google the term if you don't know what it is because don't want to go on a rant about what smarks are and why I can't stand them) continually bandwagon hop. They have a thing that I like to call "the flavour of the week." That is where they like one person in wrestling one moment, then the next moment they like some other guy to the point the bash them. I don't get why they do it. If you like a certain wrestler than that's cool. You don't stop being a fan because they turn face or they turn heel. You be a fan regardless. It's like your sports team being terrible. Even though you acknowledge they are not doing that good doesn't mean you start cheering for another team until they are doing good. You cheer for a team no matter what. But I guess people will continue to be that way, just like they are in wrestling.
In the end people need to get over it because there will be the next big thing once John Cena is done with the WWE and wrestling.

Suing Over Wrestling Titles
Someone on Facebook posted a link to a picture of a TNA United States Championship. Then someone else said that he "smelled a lawsuit coming." Unfortunately, the WWE would have no case to sue TNA. If the WWE was going to sue TNA, then they would have to sue every other promotion who has their own United States Championship.
Why they would have no case is because if they start suing a promotion for having a United States Championship, then they would have to sue a promotion for having a World Heavyweight Championship, World Tag Team Championship, etc.. The WWE was not the first promotion to have a World Heavyweight, World Tag Team, or United States Championship. The NWA had these titles before the WWE ever existed all the way back to Capitol Wrestling in 1952 and even then when Capitol Wrestling become World Wide Wrestling Federation, they were twice under the National Wrestling Alliance banner.
The only a successful lawsuit over titles came when the WWE sued then AWA Superstars of Wrestling when they tried to claim title lineage from the American Wrestling Association when Dale Gagne and Jonnie Stewart formed the promotion in 1996. I can see why they were successful in their lawsuit and that is because the WWE or then WWF bought everything to do with AWA when the promotion ceased operations in 1991. So Gagne and Stewart changed the promotion name to Wrestling Superstars Live. Even though they are not allowed to claim lineage they still display lineage for the AWA World Heavyweight, World Tag Team, World Women's, World Lightweight, and United States Championships going back between the 50s - 80s per respective title when they were established on their website. Gange and Stewart can't publicly claim lineage for any of the AWA Championships.
The problem I find some people having difficulty understanding is that the TNA is NOT and I repeat NOT claiming any of the WWE lineage from the WWE, WCW, or NWA. TNA is no infringing on anything the WWE has copyrighted or trademarked.
Now I searched the United States Copyright Office website and found that you can't trademark a title. So even if the WWE wanted to sue promotions for having United States Championships they couldn't. Look at the following document and you will see:

Even though they are not allowed to claim lineage they still display lineage for the AWA World Heavyweight, World Tag Team, World Women's, World Lightweight, and United States Championships going back between the 50s - 80s per respective title when they were established on their website. Gange and Stewart can't publicly claim lineage for any of the AWA Championships.
The problem I find some people having difficulty understanding is that the TNA is NOT and I repeat NOT claiming any of the WWE lineage from the WWE, WCW, or NWA. TNA is no infringing on anything the WWE has copyrighted or trademarked.
Now I searched the United States Copyright Office website and found that you can't trademark a title. So even if the WWE wanted to sue promotions for having United States Championships they couldn't. Look at the following document and you will see:

I was engaged in a debate about this on Facebook with some person and I finally got that person to see the point I've been trying to make. Promotions all over the world have a lot of titles with the same name. So going through all the promotions to sue them would be pointless and ruin wrestling because of this whole "its mine" type mentality. If wrestling acted on that mentality to the nth degree, then the business would be in a worse state.

Making References Nobody Gets
I was just thinking about this and do you make references to something nobody gets? Or I should say most people don't get? I have this problem and unless I am talking to fellow professional wrestling fans, they don't get my references to it. Even then some of the wrestling fans may not get what I am referring too. It all depends on how long you have been a wrestling fan. But anyways, for me, wrestling is the one thing I make reference too that nobody gets. There are times when I say something and sometimes I have follow up by saying that it's fine that you don't get what I am referring too. It's not like I am expecting them to get it or anything, but it does make it easier sometimes if they do.
Seinfeld is another good example. I have a message on Windows Live that some of you may have seen. My friend didn't get it, so I had to explain it too her that it is a reference from Seinfeld. Or Simpson's too. There is a lot of things you can reference in The Simpson's. If you haven't seen any Seinfeld, Simpson's, or any professional wrestling, then of course you wouldn't get any references people make.

It's Easter
I hope the Easter Bunny was good to your kids. I know my niece and nephews got some candy, toys, and DVDs.
Now for a great non-religious Easter gift for wrestling fans is that Christopher Daniels returned to ROH. TNA released him and TNA's lose is ROH's gain.
For a Christian gift, we get the gift of Jesus' death and resurrection. He is risen!

Tales From The Fish: Finally A Good Raw
This is my column on professional wrestling. So for those don't watch it, I understand if you don't read this. But to everybody else... READ ON!

Hey yo and welcome too a long awaited new edition of Tales From The Fish. I am as always your fan friendly Canadian Mr. C.C.. On this edition of Tales From The Fish, I will talking about Raw from February 8th and the fact it was actually good. So without further ado, lets get started.
For the longest time I haven't had any expections of WWE's "flagship" show being good. As you may or may not know, they have been having guest hosts. Most of the guest hosts have to something to promote. For example, Bob Barker had a book, Jeremy Piven had a movie, Seth Green had Robot Chicken, etc. Now the February 8th edition of Raw, the guest host was NASCAR driver Carl Edwards. The only thing he was pushing was the Daytona 500.
Going into the February 8th Raw, I again had no preconceived notions that it was going to be good. Although Raw was better then expected which was a pleasant surprise. For the last how many weeks and months Raw has looked like the B show. Well, between you and me, SmackDown has always been better then Raw. But the reason Raw gets better ratings is because it is pushed as the main show. That's another column for another time.
Instead of going over everything that happened, but I will highlight the good and bad parts of the show.
Good
-Right off the start the guest Carl Edwards did a bang up job in the opening. He actually knew how to speak on the mic and did a back flip off the top rope. He carried on this good work he did in the opening segment and took it right through the rest of the show. Edwards was one of the few non-wrestler guest hosts I enjoyed aside from Shaq and Bob Barker.
-Christian showing up on Raw was a plus in my books. Even though he is getting a great push being on ECW, its great to see on somewhere other then ECW. Christian insulting Sheamus was funny also. Christian can turn off the funny at anytime. Its not like Santino Marella who has been basically pushed as a comedic wrestler. But I digress, Christian is the ultimate package. He can wrestle, work the mic in either making you laugh or just cut a good promo and make people look amazing. Him showing up on Raw just confirmed it.
-Degeneration X is no longer the WWE Unified Tag Team Champions. I knew they were going to lose them sooner or later. But it made sense that they did it this way because they have been teasing a Shawn Michaels heel and with the way Michaels screwed up and costing them the Unified Tag Team Championship is another good way to further that.
-To coincide with Degeneration X losing the WWE Unified Tag Team Championships, teasing Shawn Michaels turning heel is great. Sure we have seen him heel in the past, but he hasn't been heel in well over ten years. That heel turn he did in his feud with Hulk Hogan doesn't count because when he does turn heel, it will be a long term heel turn. Sure its great that Michaels is face and all of that, but it will be refreshing to see him as a heel. It is long overdue for him to be heel. Plus him acting desperate in wanting to face Undertaker has been an interesting storyline to say the least.
-Randy Orton doing a job was great to see. I am not a Cody Rhodes fan by any means, but damn it is about time we see Orton do a job for someone in midcard and lower. You could say he lost to Kofi Kingston, but that was once he lost to him. The other times we have seen him beat Kingston. All we see him do a job for is fellow main eventers like Triple H, Batista, John Cena, and Undertaker. There is no shame in doing a job if it fits.
-For the first time, I actually agreed with what they had John Cena say. Don't get me wrong, I am still not a fan of Cena, but him saying Vince McMahon is all about the dollar is the truth. Sure it seems odd coming from the WWE's current cash cow, but it still sounded right even though Cena said it. Regardless of what I have said about Cena in the past, I liked the fact that someone finally, whether scripted or not, said something about Vince being greedy.
-The ending of Raw was very good as well. Bret Hart jumping Vince McMahon from behind seemed like poetic justice in some round about way. Vince kicked Bret down, but Bret didn't stay down. Even though he is not what he used to be, Bret better know what he is doing by possibly getting back in the ring. I sure hope he doesn't end up getting seriously hurt. But I digress, the whole throwing around equipment brought back memories of Montreal. Even though I am sick of talking about the whole Montreal screwjob, I liked the ending overall.
Bad
With the good, you have to have some bad. So lets get to it.
-Sheamus going over on Christian was expected, but not necessarily wanted. It would have great to have Christian go over on Sheamus will still making him look great. See, the whole reasoning with Christian going over is so that Christian might possibly get a shot at the WWE Championship. Christian has been long overdue for a run with the WWE Championship or World Heavyweight Championship for that matter. But not to stray to far off to this point, I still think that Sheamus could have done the job and looked good.
-Taking the Unified Tag Team Championships off of Degeneration X was good and all, but why couldn't they have put them on The Straight Edge Society? I mean its been two months or so since Big Show was Unified Tag Team Champion. I personally like Jeri-Show more so then the combination of Big Show and The Miz. Who was the brains behind giving The Miz another title? Its not like he defends the one he already has and that being the WWE United States Championship on a regular basis. Even the without giving the Unified Tag Team Championships to The Straight Edge Society they haven't lost any steam. It would make what The Straight Edge Society doing seem validated in some round about way. Like they were being rewarded for their work in converting people you could say. But I hope they don't give The Miz and Big Show a long title reign because I just can't see it being interesting.
-Maryse turning face? It surely seemed like she is. If you listen to her doing guest commentary during Gail Kim's match, you would get the sense is leaning towards a face turn. She also continued her ascent towards a face turn by saying that she is looking forward to her match against Gail Kim. It just seems out of place with Maryse acting all nice. I was waiting for Maryse to layout Gail Kim with the French Kiss (DDT) or do something. Gail Kim seemed reluctant to shake her hand and seemed reluctant to believe what Maryse said. Or maybe this is a swerve to become a bigger heel. I just can't buy Maryse as a face just out of the blue. A face turn over a period of time seems more appropriate.
-Is Cody Rhodes turning face? It seemed like they were teasing it. If you seen the way he was acting during his match against Randy Orton, you could see him acting like a babyface. I thought they were turning Ted Dibiase face as they were teasing it for months. But in the same facet they are seemingly turning Rhodes face as they as I said were teasing it. Remember the last time Rhodes was face? He got little to no reaction AT ALL! It didn't help they teamed him with the "Rookie Killer" Hardcore Holly. They are building Rhodes up as weak looking face. They need to build Rhodes up properly to have him as a credible face. Whether they do that remains to be seen.
Overall Raw had many more good points then bad. I haven't been able to say Raw was good in a long time. Even though SmackDown is my favorite WWE show and brand, this episode of Raw gives me hope that Raw can hopefully turn around.

The Brian Kendrick being drafted to Raw is a bad move. He will get buried and he will get ring time on house shows and possibly WWE Superstars on WGN. If Kendrick wants some face time on TV than being on Raw is the best spot for him. SmackDown! and ECW would be more suitable.
Hurricane Helms going to ECW is not a good thing. Helms is a talented wrestler, but was pretty much buried when he returned to SmackDown! after his neck injury. After he confroted Matt Hardy on SmackDown! he was pretty much taken off TV. Lets hope he gets some face time on ECW. He deserves a chance to wrestle on TV and hasn't really gotten the chance since his return. Afterall they jobbed him Vladamir Kozlov
Hopefully things will turn around for Charlie Haas now that he is back on SmackDown!. I hope they have stopped having Haas imitate past and present WWE superstars. When given the chance Haas can wrestle with the best of them. Maybe they could reform The Worlds Greatest Tag Team. The tag team division could use a boost and what better way to do it than reform The Worlds Greatest Tag Team? Or is Shelton Benjamin a full-time singles competitor now? Either way Haas needs to get a push to the Intercontinental Championship if nothing else. A good move putting Haas on SmackDown! as he was being wasted on Raw.
Putting Festus on Raw is a bit of an odd choice if they don't have Jessie going to Raw as well. If Jessie isn't going to Raw than they need to change Festus's demeanor if a singles push for Festus is going to work. If the WWE is putting Festus on Raw without Jessie than they just broke up another tag team. I guess we will see how this will work in due time.
John Morrison can hopefully get a good singles push. I mean even though I am not a big fan of Morrison, he should have been the one to have been drafted to Raw. Afterall, he will not buried like The Miz will be. Either way, it is time for Morrison to go back to the singles division where he can get a push towards the Intercontinental Championship. Maybe he could have a good match with Rey Mysterio or whoever. Good choice putting Morrison on SmackDown!.
What are the Tag Team Champions going to accomplish by going to Raw? They already fought Simply Priceless on SmackDown!. They could have kept Cryme Tyme on Raw and bolstered the tag team division, but used Raw to do it. Or maybe they might be roving champions by going to all three brands and just have Raw as their home show when they are not the champions. Will the WWE having Primo and Carlito as roving champions? We will find out soon enough.
Natalya should have stayed on SmackDown! or went to Raw where there is a womens division and compete for one of the titles. She could still be on ECW as a manager, but wrestle on SmackDown! or Raw.
DH Smith going to ECW can be seen as good as now he can team up with Tyson Kidd aka T.J. Wilson. Afterall, DH Smith and Tyson Kidd teamed up in the indies. Lets see if they push them towards the Tag Team Championship. That would be sweet if they did.
